The Gap Community Organization 2006 May 02 Monthly Meeting Minutes
Meeting called to order at 7:20 p.m.
Community introductions took place.
Motion was made to defer the reading of the minutes by the acting secretary. Motion was seconded and passed. Copies of the minutes were provided at the sign-in table.
Treasurer was not present. Motion to defer Treasurer's report was seconded and passed.
Area Representative, Brandon Pendalton request the groups guidance on how to handle the USPS request that mailboxes be moved. It was suggested he contact Rep. Bobby Rush's office. Not other area Representative presented.
The "President's Report" time was given to Pilgrim Baptist Church Trustee Board Chairman, Robert H. Vaugh. Mr. Vaughn was happy to give the group an update on the church as it relates to the neighborhood. Currently P.B.C. is waiting for work permits to construct wall braces so that the street barricades can be removed. P)BC is accepting donations to help rebuild. contact Mr. Vaughn at 312-543-8329 or 312-842-4417 to discuss donations. Mr. Vaughn's fax number at the church is 312-842-7835. Rebuilding will begin as soon as plans are approved by the church. Mr. Vaughn promised to check and report back to the group as to when the alley behind the church can be reopened.
Nominations for officers for the next two year are as follows:
President - Leonard E. Mc Gee
Vice President - Tim Rinkowski and Tracey Taylor
Secretary - Joan Emerson
Treasurer - Brandon Pendelton
Nominations were closed and elections will take place at the June 6th meeting.
Housing committee report was given by Peter McCauley. Motion by Tim R. to accept the recap reports was seconded by Danny Bishop. Motion passed.
Issues on 35th Street were addressed. Several proposals were made on how "we" could clean-up 35th Street between MLK and State. It was proposed that we petition all three alderman regarding specific improvements we wish to see made and implementations be done ASAP. Motion passed after it was amended to include that changes be completed within 8 weeks of the meeting. Leonard will pass out petitions to area reps on Saturday, May 13th.
all interested helping with the spring clean-up should meet at the corner of 33rd and Giles on May 13th at 8:30 a.m. Hot spots were identified.
Motion to fund the advertising of the June Yard Sale was made and adopted . The Gapco will fund yard sale expenses not to exceed $700.00.
Motion to pay copier bills was passed.
